In Memoriam - RMS Lusitania
On May 7th, 1915, the Cunard liner RMS Lusitania
was attacked by torpedoes from a German submarine.
The Lusitania sank in only 18 minutes, taking 1,198 lives,
turning many nations against Germany and
contributing to the USA's entry into the war.
Cunard had wanted to lay up the vessel for the
duration of the conflict, but the British Admiralty insisted
that Cunard maintain her trans-Atlantic service.
